On 21 January, Campus Motor Academy and Kini MotorPark hosted a training session, including a test on the circuit, for various law enforcement agencies, including the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Regional Police, the Ertzaintza, the Municipal Police, the Local Police and the Port Police, focusing on the new smart tachographs.
The new smart tachographs with the DSRC-RP module developed by VDO enable faster roadside checks and help meet the European Union's objectives for sustainable mobility, fair competition and road safety.
On 21 January, several law enforcement officers, including the Mossos d'Esquadra, the local police forces of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Mataró and Terrassa, the Barcelona City Police, the Navarre Regional Police, Ertzaintza of the Basque Country and Port Police met in compliance with Covid-19 safety protocols in the rooms of the Motor Academy Campus located next to the Kini MotorPark complex (Anoia, Barcelona) to receive training from Continental Automotive, a company that manufactures and develops tachograph, data management and telematics products.
During this training session, which consisted of a theoretical and technical explanation of the new DSRC-RP solutions and practical training on the Kini MotorPark speed circuit, all attendees were able to get into the vehicle to test the new system on the road with a lorry and a Mossos d'Esquadra vehicle as part of the testing.
The vehicle equipped with the new smart tachograph was fitted with two on-board cameras to transmit live images to the outside and see in real time what data was being generated by the tachograph during the test on the circuit.
This on-board streaming video system is one of the services implemented in March 2019 at Kini MotorPark in an agreement with Cellnex Telecom, making it the first connected circuit in Europe with a pioneering and innovative testing space for the development of ITS technological solutions associated with 5G, sustainable mobility and autonomous vehicles.
In this way, the Motor Academy Campus continues with its commitment to being a cutting-edge infrastructure for hosting training courses and presentations, as in this case with the Mossos d'Esquadra, and opens the door to future collaboration with official bodies, thanks to the partnership between the Motor Academy Campus and Kini MotorPark to establish a leading training centre.
At Kini MotorPark, we continue to be at the forefront of the sector, testing the latest technologies in sustainability and 5G and thinking about the future of mobility in all its aspects, including those that add value to road safety.
