A great MX party on a track that made its debut in an international event and was enjoyed by young riders from different European countries.
The European Motocross Championship in the SW zone for the 65cc and 85cc categories came to Kini MX Park after the first two rounds in Italy and Croatia, with riders competing for a place in the semi-final scheduled for 21 and 22 June in France, where the qualified riders will battle it out with those from the SE zone.
Circuit
The track looked very good and a lot of hard work was needed to get the terrain in good condition and try to make it suitable for most riders of different levels.
Many water tanks were needed to prevent dust, and the always difficult compromise between keeping the track dust-free and preventing it from becoming completely muddy and therefore impracticable was achieved.
According to the participating riders themselves, the track achieved a balanced degree of difficulty with different possibilities in the lines, in order to satisfy the riders in the two scheduled categories: 65 cc and 85 cc.
Performance
In terms of sporting achievements, French riders dominated and Pau Caudet (Gas Gas) from Valencia secured a fine victory in the first MX 85 race.
Arthur Annelot (Gas Gas) from France won both EMX 65 heats, with his compatriot Mathys Agullo (KTM) finishing second overall, coming third and second in the first and second races respectively. Third overall was Italian Daniel Corda (KTM), who finished second in the first race after leading until the last lap, when he was overtaken by Annelot.
Among our representatives, the best was the 11-year-old rider from Madrid, Izán Rodríguez Fernández (Gas Gas), who finished tenth in the first race and managed to get on the podium by finishing third in the second race.
Eleu José Cuenca (Gas Gas) finished seventh in the first race as his best result and Biel Vilalta (Yamaha) finished in the top eight in both races.
In the MX 85 class, Frenchman Louis Morette (Husqvarna) won the second race and finished third in the first, followed by fellow Frenchman Mennillo (KTM).
Pau Caudet (Gas Gas) put in a very good performance, winning the first race and finishing fourth in the second. Torro led until the tenth lap, when Caudet overtook him to win the first race.
Future
Following this initial experience, Kini MX Park is working towards hosting top-level competitions in the future, for which it plans to extend the track.
